Happy 1st Birthday Lizzie

Today is Lizzie's 1st birthday. It's been a whole year, wow! We are so blessed with a happy, healthy, precious baby girl. Thank you Lord!
I will write her story in a little while when I am awake and not in a froggy daze.

Already time huh?

Wow, I can't believe the stores are filled with Christmas stuff already. I really look forward to the time between Thanksgiving and New Years. It seems each year gets jollier, more decorations, new trends. This year we have thought about doing the 'new' thing, hanging our Christmas tree upside down from the ceiling. Partly because its different, partly because it will help keep Lizzie away. My friends on the Aug 01' board told me that the tradition started with the old 'new' missionary Christians. They hung the evergreen tree upside down to make sure it was displayed differently from the other house plants, to make it stand out above all others. We still need to verify this before we do it. Just wanna make sure its not some pagan ritual or something. I think it would be fun, different, make our family memory special. On a funny note, my mom ordered the leg lamp from a Christmas Story to put in her front window, how cute!
Anyway, I look forward to the air around this time, all the Christmas music, smell of pine and cinnamon. I dont think I will get to decorate this year, trying to keep Lizzie away from it all would be draining. Next year will be a good age to get everything back out. I want to collect snowmen and nativity scenes.... no santas. Santa is a name we vaguely toss around here. No way some old man is gonna get the credit for the toys and blessings in this house. Jesus gets all the credit for the wonderful things we have and experience.
Im kinda lost on what to get the boys this year. Seems everything is getting electronic ($$$) and techinical. The boys like video games but we dont allow them much here. I'd rather them be outside playing or playing board games, which we all love. They do have a Gameboy Advance, I think well just get new games for that. No Wii's or XBox's here, atleast not for a while. Seth thinks he needs a MP3 player, I said what does an 8 yr old do with one of those? lol Their dad is buying them a $150 Star Wars toy.. crazy! You know what I could buy with $150? Geesh! Atleast he is thinking about what they really like (Star Wars) and is buying them something. They really need more clothes but how boring is that? We'll see, clearance aisles here I come.
I want to start shopping now, do a little each week so by Thanksgiving I can be done and just enjoy this wonderous time of year.

Back from the mountains

Well that was 2 nice days. Nathan and I both enjoyed ourselves. We got there around 2pm on Tuesday. We got all checked in and decided to explore his route that he had to sell to while we were up there. Most of his 80-something homes were on a street on the lake. It was obvious immediately that most of the were vacation homes. Some were old, some were new and some were! There were some massive, luxurious, breath taking homes. We stopped at one for sale and looked through all the windows. It was huge, like 3,000 sq feet. Completely done in hard wood floors, beautiful glass all around with a wonderful view. The master bedroom though elegant, was small. I told Nathan not to buy it for me, LOL At home I looked it up, it was $2.5 million!! Wowzas!
That night we went to a local resturaunt/pub. There were only 2 choices in this little town of 200 people. I ordered the Chicken fried steak and was given a plate big enough for 3 people. It was nice to sit back and relax while I ate. I didnt have to get up and help someone else, no dishes, no chaos, just me and him. We talked about alot of stuff that gets looked over on a typical day. Moms and dads dont get alot of time to speak about adult things. Nathan worked that evening and I watched tv. Something I dont do alot of unless its sports or House. It was fun flipping through all the channels. I brought 2 books to read but the tv entertained me enough. I was pretty lazy while I was there. Took in the peace and quiet. Drank alot of tea and coffee. Although I liked being alone for a little while, it was definitly strange. God made me to be a mother of 4, not being around them feels out of my element.
Nathans boss came up the next day and took us all out to lunch, that was nice. His coworkers are pretty funny and we laughed more than anything. Once again we were served too much food. Seems all we did was eat. So much for being low-carb right now. I took a nice long nap later in the day. Forgetting that I was alone I swore I heard the boys playing. I think people who dont have kids dont truly understand the mama ears we have. We hear things.... things no one else hears, like the kids turning over in bed at night, I can hear it. We watched the game that night, go RAYS!, and again, were stuffed at the now very familar resturaunt. I wasted so much food, tisk tisk, we didnt have a fridge in our room.
It was a very relaxing, rejuvenating time for me. I came home a bit calmer and collected. I missed my kiddos, maybe not their fighting and arguing, but I missed Joshua's smiling face, telling Benny I love his guts, and Seths always available wisdom. Every mama, and daddy, need a little time for themselves, or its very easy to lose the person you truly are and want to be. Speaking of which, I will be going back to school soon... but thats a whole nother post....

Going to the Mountains

Nathan has to go work in a town about 2 hours away this week. He was nice enough to ask his boss if I could go. So, after stressing, planning, and rethinking it all, Im going to go. My mom (thanx a bunch) and Nathans dad will help watch the kids for 2 days. Im kinda getting excited now. 2 days to myself. I can get the rest Ive been needing, catch up on some reading, and have some alone time with Nathan. Not to mention where we are going is beautiful, so I hope to get some great fall pictures.
I havent been feeling well lately and Ive been taking it out on the kids some, so hopefully I can come home calmer and ready to be a good mama again. I have lots of fun fall crafts Id like to do with them but I need to have more patience, more rest. When mama don't feel good, nobody does.
Speaking of fall, its pretty around here. We dont have alot of trees, but the ones that are here are gorgeous. Lots of bright reds and yellows. The weather has been weird, but I have to admit the cooler air feels good. I dont like to bundle up, maybe later in the year I'll get used to it. Something about being all bulky and stuffed in a jacket that makes me... uhh... uncomfy?
Anyway, thats about it.... gotta do a million things before I can leave town for 2 days, LOL

Thanks Jess

Well thank you very much Jessica... I guess its your turn to get me started on something. Here it goes...
I hope to start talking about my daily life. The goods, bads, funnies, everything. I always said I would love to sit down and talk to someone... might as well type it out. I hope this will be good for me, I'm good at bottling stuff up. Any comments or feedback from people would be great.
Thats all for now, Im going to watch the Red Sox go down, hopefully, and eat a snack.
G nite!
